Network

Network agnostic for integration into Moblie and Fixed enviroment for TDM, IP and IN networks

Overview

Via OASIS’ platform modular architecture and it’s implementation of “Telephony Objects”, the system is designed to be network agnostic allowing the introduction and development of new signalling network protocols to be easily integrated.

This innovative design supports changes in network topology and protocols and allows your application investment to be protected requiring minimal effort to support new signalling and network technologies in the future.

Capabilities

The OASIS platform supports a myriad of signalling network protocols across converged networks (TDM and IP) and Intelligent Network signalling.

TDM – Circuit Switched

Legacy networks that are based on the original telephony TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) and circuit switched networks.

  • ISDN (Integrated Serviced Digital Network) – High capacity telephony network that can transmit voice and data. Usually provided as E1(Euro/Aus) in 30 channel or T1 links (US/Japan) in 24 channel capacities.
  • ISUP (ISDN User Part) - Used to carry important call-related information like called or calling party number and Circuit Identification Code (CIC) for call set-up between the switches in network exchanges, both locally and across international boundaries.
  • CAS (Channel Associated Signalling) – Network signalling used on E1/T1 links.
  • 3G Video (3G-324M) – 3G GSM based wireless network protocol for the transmission of 2 way video and Interactive Video & Voice services (IVVR).

IP – Packet Based

The network migration from legacy PSTN to IP has seen the development of many new standard network protocols that support IP telephony (VOIP) and interactive multi-media (Video & Voice) applications.

  • SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) – Used for controlling telephony services over IP.
  • RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol) – Used for delivering audio and video over IP.
  • H.323 – Legacy VoIP environment.

Intelligent Network (IN)

All modern carrier networks are based on the SS7 Intelligent Network and the OASIS platform fully supports the following protocols to create advanced IN based solutions:

  • CAMEL (Customised Applications for Mobile networks Enhanced Logic) – The ETSI standard comes in Phase 1, 2 and 3 and allows network operators to define services over and above standard GSM / UMTS services and offer service roaming capabilities to subscriber. E.g. no-prefix dialling or seamless MMS message access from abroad.
  • INAP (Intelligent Network Application Part) - Provides the logic for controlling services that are migrated from PSTN switching points to server based platform.
  • TCAP (Transaction Capabilities Application Part) - Used to transport INAP messages in Intelligent Networks and also facilitate multiple concurrent dialogs between the same sub-systems on the same machines, using Transaction IDs.

Benefits

  • Lower Investment - OASIS is based on Linux and Intel server architecture ensuring that capital costs today and in the future are very cost effective. Hardware is available “off the shelf” rather than vendor lock-in, providing for competitive sourcing.
  • Network Agnostic– OASIS’ modular architecture can support new and emerging network protocols allowing future interoperability without major re-development of customer applications.
  • Converged & Seamless Network InteroperabilityAllows for dynamic conversion and adaptation between varying networks without the need for specialised gateways.
  • Global DeploymentsOASIS supports global scale deployments utilising open standards and worldwide approved network interfaces.
